No complete series of critical editions of writings in the Cornish language and writings about the language has ever been attempted. Many of the key manuscripts have never been published in any form. In particular, for the latest period of Cornish as a living language (‘Late’ or ‘Modern’ Cornish, c. AD1600-1800) the majority of textual Cornish remains unpublished to this day and largely unavailable to scholars and language revivalists. Many key texts remain unpublished, despite having had, through secondary sources, a major influence on Cornish scholarship over the last three centuries. 1,000 Years of Cornish will build up to form a complete set of writings from the period when Cornish was a living language.
