Matthias Egeler has studied, researched, and taught at Munich, Oxford, Cambridge, Berlin, and Cork, before finding his way to the Westfjords of Iceland, where this book is set. He is now Professor for Old Norse Literature and Culture at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
